Travel Hero: Megan Sullivan

Megan Sullivan

Cherry LAB’s passion for time well spent goes beyond boundaries! We are not only inspired by our own experiences, favorite gadgets and special places. Our inspiration is also stimulated by the unique stories of other globetrotters and people with a mission. That’s why we put a new Hero in the spotlight once in a while. These are heroes from all over the world and of course from our own country. Maybe you are next!

In just one month taking a fall of 15 meter while climbing a mountain, got hit by a car and also being diagnosed with skin cancer. How much bad luck can you get? It all happened to Megan Sullivan. Due to these setbacks, she realised that she has to live more in the present and therefore decided to fulfill her pursuit of happiness by visiting all seven New Wonders of the World. We think it’s such an inspiring story that Megan deserves a spot as our Travel Hero. She is very busy pursuing her passion for filmmaking but luckily for us, the internet has no secrets.

  1. What makes this interesting lady a true heroo?

Megan was handed a trifecta of bad luck in just one month time. First, she was 609 meters high during mountain climbing at the Yosemite National Park when she took a terrifying 15 meter fall. Her helmet saved her life and after that she started questioning why she was putting herself in such situations with extreme sports. Like that wasn’t enough, she was hit by a car while riding her scooter just a week after. Merely another week later, she was diagnosed with skin cancer during a routine check-up as the icing on the cake. In a moment of clarity, she realised that she survived and that she now has to pursue her dreams and get the most out of life. And so Megan did.. She visited all the seven New Wonders of the World in just 13 days. To top it all, she invited a guy that she’d been dating for only two weeks!

  1. What’s driving her and her success?

She had a dream to travel the world and film this adventure, three years prior. But it just remained a dream. The events leading up to the trip made her realise that the only thing stopping her from having everything that she wanted in her life was herself. So she decided to pursue her first dream by visiting all seven New Wonders of the World in a 13-day trip. Megan loved her new path in life and continued to follow her passion for filmmaking. Something she was afraid to do before due to insecurity and the possibility of failure. In 2016, one of her documentaries made it into the film festival circuit. By having this recognition, she instantly knew that she had to pursue her passion for filmmaking.

  1. What’s the highlight of Megan’s career?

Having seen all seven new Wonders of the World and filming it, made her eager to film and travel more to continue in pursuing her lifelong passion for filmmaking. The true highlight? Her short documentary ‘On the fence’ about the risks of ‘extreme sports’ that made it into the film festival circuit 2016. It can only go uphill from here!

This lady knows how to live her life and more documentaries will follow! In the slider below you will see a preview of three Wonders of the World, but also have a look on her Instagram @themegansullivan and don’t forget to check her blog.
